Welcome to The Engine House Cafe
The Engine House Cafe was Havelock’s original Fire Station. Engine House #4, built in 1900, was then home to a horse drawn fire team. In the 1970’s, the Fire Station moved to Fremont and Touzalin Streets. For a few years in the 1980’s, the building housed the Salvation Army thrift store.
The wood ceiling that accents the entire building, is the original from 1900. The two large wooden beams at the entrance are what’s left of the Bell Tower. A covered hole still shows the location of the entrance to the tower.
All of the memorabilia on the walls came from retired and active firemen, their families, and friends.
The Engine House was renovated in early 1995 to become The Engine House Cafe, which opened in June 1995. We are glad to have you as our guests.
